Four suspected criminals have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for various criminal offences in its continued efforts to curb urban crime.
The Command, through the PPRO, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement he made available to Journalists in Minna on Sunday, stated that,
“On 22nd March 2026, at about 9.30am, based on a direct complaint, one Suleiman Anaba 32 years of Sahonrami, Mashegu LGA, a mechanic was given a Toyota Corolla vehicle with Registration number, AG 281 BNK for repairs for the past one week and the vehicle was nowhere to be found.”
He added that, Police operatives attached to Mashegu Division arrested the suspect who confessed to have stolen the vehicle, and kept it somewhere in Kontagora where he was selling the parts.
The Spokesman of the Command further stated that the suspect led the Operatives to where he parked the vehicle and it was recovered assuring that the suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.
In another development, three suspected criminals have been arrested by the Police for criminal conspiracy and theft of two motorcycles which have been recovered from the suspected criminal gangs.
According to the statement, On 26th March 2026 at about 5pm, information received indicated that one Buhari Usman, 25 years of Jebba, who allegedly specialised in stealing motorcycles was sighted along Raba road, Mokwa.
The statement added that Police operatives of Mokwa Division moved to the location and arrested the suspect.
During interrogation, he allegedly confessed that he stole a motorcycle from a victim in Moyo via Mokwa, and he intended to sell it through one of his accomplices, one Abdullahi Suleiman of Kpege area.
The PPRO explained that Abdullahi Suleiman was also arrested adding that a Bajaj motorcycle was recovered.
He said, “Further investigation led to the arrest of one of their gang members, Aliyu Ibrahim 26yrs of Tsyabo and another Bajaj motorcycle was recovered in his possession, which he stole from Sunti sugar company.
The Spokesman ot the State Police Command however assured that all suspects have been charged to court for prosecution, and effort to locate the victims is in progress.
Meanwhile, Police operatives attached to Central Police Division, Minna, announced the arrests of Sixteen miscreants between the period of Tuesday 31st March to Thursday, 2nd April 2026 terrorising Angwan-Sarki and Ogbomosho area of Minna.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun stated this in a Crime Bulletin issued and made available to Journalists on Sunday in Minna.
The statement added that the suspects were arrested during a house-to-house sting operation at about 2am where the following suspects were arrested: Najeem Yakubu of Kuta road, Zakari Hussaini of Kuta road, Idris Saidu of Sabongari, Naziru Kabiru of Angwan-Sarki, Shehu Sulaiman of Ogbomosho road, Anas Abubakar of Kotun-Bola and others.
According to the PPRO, “Exhibits recovered include two cutlasses, one sickle, one saw, three sticks.
He however assured that all suspects are under further investigation adding that they will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for diligent prosecution.
