Women across the 25 local government areas of Niger State have officially endorsed Dr. Mohammed Kpautagi Mohammed, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) aspirant, in anticipation of the 2027 governorship election.

Their goal is to promote good governance and address the ongoing issues of perceived  misrule and mismanagement in the state by the incumbent APC- led administration

Led by the Coalition for Women Campaign, with Hajiya Aisha Mai Youth Suleja leading the effort, the women expressed their purpose as celebrating the New Year and encouraging him to prepare for the upcoming election.

Aisha stated that Niger State needs a compassionate, purposeful leader who prioritizes citizens’ welfare, empowers women, fights poverty, ensures the safety of lives and property, shows empathy, promotes inclusivity, and exemplifies patriotism.

She also pledged strong mobilization efforts among women for the 2027 general elections .

Describing Kpautagi Mohammed as humble, sympathetic, diligent, and results-oriented, Aisha highlighted his commitment to Niger State’s growth and development.

She thereby called on the seasoned politician  to run for governor to help build a better future for the state.

In their remarks, three women Zonal Coordinators—Hauwa Musa, Mrs. Mary Ishaku Shashere, and Sadiya Shehu Kontagora—criticized the current leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pointing out incompetence and unfulfilled promises in their communities.

They expressed regret over the APC’s failure to deliver tangible benefits and vowed to support the ADC candidate as a strong alternative.

Additionally, Abdullahi Mahmoud, the State Coordinator of the movement and a former federal legislator for Lapai/Agaie, Federal Constituency,  praised the women for their foresight and political influence, recognizing their vital role in shaping leadership outcomes.

Dr. Mohammed Kpautagi Mohammed responded by saying he is not yet in the campaign phase but appreciates the recognition.

He noted his 2023 candidacy and assured the women of his readiness to respond when the time is right, emphasizing his dedication to Niger State’s progress.

He also praised Governor Mohammed Umar Bago-led’s administration as an example of capable leadership, expressing confidence that, if given the mandate in 2027, his government would focus on development across all sectors.

Kpautagi Mohammed highlighted his comprehensive platform centered on grassroots development, especially at the local government level, aimed at fostering significant progress and reducing rural-urban migration.
