One Hassan Mohamed, a 25-year-old man of Rinjin Gura village via Zalau Ward, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has been allegedly shoot and killed with a dane gun.
A statement by the Bauchi State Police Command, issued by the Command’s PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, made available to Journalists on Tuesday, confirmed the incident stating that already, one Jabir Yusuf, 25-year-old, of the same address has been arrested in connection with the criminal act.
Nafiu Habib stated that preliminary investigation revealed that on 7th September, 2026 at about 1130hrs, a report was received at Rishi Division from a resident of Zalau Ward, to the effect that the suspect allegedly discharged a dane gun and shot the victim on the neck, thereby causing fatal injuries.
In response to the incident, and due to proximity, operatives of Gumau Division swiftly mobilized to the scene and evacuated the victim to Toro General Hospital for urgent medical attention, where he was confirmed dead by the Medical Doctor on duty.
Consequently, the corpse was profiled and released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been apprehended and the dane gun recovered as exhibit while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, while commiserating with the bereaved family, has directed a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He further cautioned members of the public against the illegal possession and reckless use of firearms, warning that violators will face the full weight of the law.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and property, and enjoins citizens to continue providing timely and credible information to aid policing efforts.
