The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his 70-year-old grandfather to death in Sabon Kariya Village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
According to a report received by the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ganjuwa, on 17th May 2026 at about 1700 hours, a 58-year-old man resident of Sabon Kariya Village reported that earlier that day at approximately 1630 hours, one Bashar Aliyu, aged 26, allegedly used a knife to stab his grandfather, Ibrahim Maisaje, aged 70, IN his room.
Police operatives immediately visited the scene of the incident while the corpse was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kafin Madaki, where a Medical Doctor on duty certified the victim dead.
Following the report, the suspect was promptly arrested and preliminary investigation conducted, though o exhibit was recovered at the scene.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the act and assured the public that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.
He further urged community members to promote peaceful conflict resolution and to report suspicious activities promptly to prevent such tragedies, as contained in a statement by the Command PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib,
