71.63% achieve  5 Credits, Including English, Mathematics as NECO announces 2025 external exams results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of its 2025 Senior School Certificate of Education (SSCE) external examination.

 A total of 68,166 candidates, representing 71.63%, achieved at least five credits, including English and Mathematics.

NECO Registrar/ CEO, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, made the announcements of these results at the Council Headquarters in Minna,Niger State Capital on Tuesday,3rd February 2026, saying that “overall, 82,082 candidates, or 86.26%, obtained five credits and above across all subjects”.

The examination saw 96,979 candidates, with 51,823 (53.43%) males and 45,156 (46.56%) females, sitting for the tests.
The total number of actual candidates who sat for the examination  was 95,160, with males accounting for 50,785 (53.36%) and females for 44,375 (46.63%).

The report also indicated that 9,016 candidates were booked for various examination malpractices, reflecting an increase of 31.7% from 6,160 cases recorded in 2024.

According to him, “In English Language, 78.32% of the candidates (out of 73,167) achieved credits or higher, while in Mathematics, 91.35% of 85,256 candidates attained similar results”.

Furthermore, he said,  five supervisors, including two from FCT and one each from Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo States, were recommended for blacklisting due to assisting in malpractice”.

Additionally, Prof. Wushishi noted that four examination centers—two in Niger State, and one each in Yobe and Kano states were found to be involved in large-scale malpractice and are recommended for de-recognition.

The Registrar however urged the 2025 SSCE external candidates to access their results through the official NECO website at www.neco.gov.ng using their examination registration numbers.
