The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips received the Hon. Commissioners for Livestock and Nomadic Affairs, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Mammagi & Hon. Umar Ahmad Rebe and their entourage on a courtesy visit on Friday 17th July, 2026 at the State Police Command Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura Minna.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Police Command,SP Wasiu Abiodun stated this in a Press statement issued and made available to Journalists on Friday in Minna.
According to the Statement, during the visit, Hon. Mammagi appreciated the Commissioner of Police for the warm reception accorded to him and his colleague, adding that the establishment of the ministry of nomadic affairs in the State has achieved successes in some areas such as farmers/herders clash and influx of Fulani groups through constant engagement of stakeholders to tackle some of these challenges.
He stated that the advocacy visit is aimed at implementing new regulations for a better cattle market environment in the State, as the regulation covers veterinary inspection and transportation of animals. He emphasized that the initiative ensures the security and health of animals, while generating revenue for the government.
The Commissioner added that every animal to be transported after purchase shall bear a waybill issued through a veterinary inspection process, which guarantees trust and security of the animals, as well as boosting the revenue for the government. Finally, he acknowledged that an effective partnership with the Police Command is required to achieve the desired objective.
Hon. Rebe in his remarks appreciated the Commissioner of Police for his intervention and support to the ministry of nomadic affairs, while commending his efforts in addressing challenges encountered in the State.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police expressed delight in receiving the two Hon. Commissioners, and reiterated the commitment of the Command in enforcing all laws and regulations, adding that laws are meant to guide the conduct of people for a peaceful coexistence in our society.
He stated that it is very important to verify the origin of animals, profile buyers and sellers of cattle, as well as having a legal platform to carry out legitimate transactions.
He also commended the initiative for ensuring health check of animals through veterinary verification for safe consumption of beef, and in the same vein, serving as a means of revenue generation for the government to enhance development. He assured the ministries of the Police Command’s support in addressing challenges of cattle rustling in the State.
