Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has released a sum of N1 billion for the payments of retirees gratuities to 489 beneficiaries for the state, local governments and death retirees in the state.
The Director General, Niger State Pension Board, Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska stated this in an interview with newsmen after the flag off of the presentation of cheques to the benefiting retirees in Minna.
Namaska stated further that beneficiaries are to receive 100percent payment of their gratuity entitlement, adding that It’s not the past percentage payment experienced.
He explained that the payment is for the state batch 12 and batch one death gratuity of N500 million as well as the batch 3 local government gratuity which is also N500 million making a total of N1 billion.
Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska reassured that the payment process will be sustained especially the subsequent payment for batch 13, batch two gratuity and batch 4 local government scheduled for next payments.
He reiterated the commitment of the board to ensure fair treatment for all the beneficiaries as directed by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago who is paying gratuity liability from 2010 to 2017, stressing that the present administration has so far spent N8.5 billion in the last three years for pensioners entitlements in the state.
Conseqquently,there were tears and praises as some of the beneficiaries received their cheques while others were on wheel chairs at the venue of the presentation at the board’s premises at Laddu Kwali Road in Minna to collect their cheques with joy and appreciation to the incumbent Governor Mohammed Umar Bago-led administration
