The Sole Administrator of Bauchi State owned Wikki Tourists Football Club, Haruna Bako, has solicited the cooperation and support of members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, in his efforts to reposition the Club and return to the elite league of Nigeria’s football.
Consequently, Haruna Bako was at the NUJ Press Centre office of SWAN on Sunday where he met with the members in an interactive session.
The Sole Administrator disclosed that his main assignment is to reposition and drive the Club back to the NPFL by the end of the current season, saying it is an onerous task but possibly achievable.
Though he lamented that every aspect of the Club’s administration is decayed, he is still doing everything possible to fix it and make things work again.
Haruna Bako expressed optimism that with the cooperation of SWAN members, the objectives will be achieved and at the end of the season, everyone will be happy
He said that his administration is open to constructive contributions from Sports Writers and other stakeholders, stressing that their support is critical to the development of the club.
The Sole Administrator disclosed that the management has contacted Sports marketing companies to explore ways of rebranding Wikki Tourists and making the club more attractive and marketable.
He also revealed that discussions are ongoing with some foreign partners as part of efforts to reposition the club and improve its visibility and commercial value.
Responding, the SWAN Chairman in Bauchi State, Bala Bawaji, assured the new management of the association’s support and cooperation.
Bala Bawaji urged the Sole Administrator to regard Sports Writers as partners in progress and ensure that the media is carried along in all activities of the club.
Members of SWAN also called on the new management to effectively utilize the club’s Media Officer as the official communication channel between the club and the media.
