The Bauchi State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination has expressed readiness to partner with a Media related CSO, Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD), in promoting government programmes and policies across the State.
The expression was made on Friday, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ibrahim Ahmed Rufai, during a courtesy visit by officials of the organisation in Bauchi.
Ibrahim Ahmed Rufai said that the Ministry was ready to collaborate with J4PD to ensure adequate dissemination of government programmes and policies to the public.
“I have been hearing about your activities and we will work together to ensure that government programmes and policies are properly disseminated.
According to him, “The media is key in any activity or engagement conducted by an organisation because it provides visibility and keeps the public informed,”
He then commemded J4PD for engaging in various advocacy activities over the years stressing that the activities have impacted government to the population.
Earlier, Ms Elizabeth Kah, Executive Director of J4PD, said the organisation had partnered with several organisations to promote public health and development issues in the state.
She explained that J4PD was currently working closely with the United Nations Population Fund, as a media partner to publicise its activities and programmes.
According to her, “We are working with UNFPA as a media partner, where we ensure that all their activities, including those of the Six line Ministries working with UNFPA, are given adequate publicity.
“We are here on a familiarisation visit and to congratulate you on your new position as the Permanent Secretary,” she said.
Elizabeth Kah added that J4PD was committed to giving back to society through programmes and activities aimed at reducing health challenges and improving access to healthcare services, especially Maternal, Child and Newborn Health (MNCH), as well as water, sanitation and hygiene services.
She said the organisation was willing to partner with any institution committed to safeguarding public health and promoting MNCH in Bauchi State and the North-East sub-region.
