The Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has expressed sadness over the death of former General Manager of Radio Niger, Minna and former chairman, Board of Niger State Media Corporation, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed.
In a condolence message through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor extends his condolences to the family of the deceased and the leadership as well as members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Niger State Council.
He described the deceased as an ace broadcaster who has made a milestone impact on both state and national broadcasting stations.
He maintained that the broadcasting family has truly lost an experienced, retired but never tired broadcaster.
The late Alh. Ibrahim Ahmed, who served as the general manager of Radio Niger, Minna, between 1976 and 1980, had earlier begun his broadcasting career as an announcer/newscaster with the Broadcasting Company of Northern Nigeria (BCNN).
Similarly, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has also expressed deep sorrow over the death of former General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Niger State (BCNS), Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Kontagora.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the union, the State Secretary of the NUJ, Comrade Usman Chiji, described the death of Alhaji Kontagora as a great loss, not only to his family but also to Radio Niger, the media industry, and Niger State as a whole.
The union described the deceased as an accomplished journalist whose career served as a source of inspiration to many practising journalists in the state.
The NUJ prayed Almighty Allah to forgive Alhaji Kontagora’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the Kontagora Emirate, as well as the management and staff of Radio Niger, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
