Child Rights Agency commits to protection of child rights against abuse, molestations – DG

The Director General Niger State Child Rights Agency, (NSCRA), Barr. Ummukaltume Mohammed has reiterated the Agency’s commitment in ensuring the protection of child right against abuse and molestations.

She called on relevant Non-Governmental Organisations, (NGOs)Community Based Organisations, Religious leaders and  traditional leaders in the state to partner with the Agency in ensuring the protection of the rights  of the girl child and  domestic violence against women.

She emphasized the preparedness of the Agency to protect the rights of girl child against all forms of molestation and any other harmful action against girl child, women and the vulnerable in the state warning that the full wrath of the agency will be visited on any person or group.

Barr. Umulkhaltume stated this during an enlightenment visit to some  primary and secondary schools on Wednesday in Minna.

She said that protecting the rights of children should be seen as the collective responsibility of government, parents educators and communities,  assuring that the State’s Child  Rights Agency will continue to create awareness and enlightenment across schools  in Niger State on the need for girl child to speak out against any sort of molestation.

The DG,  further disclosed that the Agency under her watch will continue to partner with schools management across the state in ensuring the protection and the promotion of children’s rights and their  well-being at all times.

According to the DG, “the Niger State Child Rights Agency was established to protect the rights of girl child, women and the vulnerable in the state, stressing that the agency under her watch will descend heavily on any person or group of persons that dares the agency.

She told the students to speak out against any form of molestation which include all forms of abuse and any other neglect that  will endanger their lives.

She, however, explained  that her visit to the school was part of the Agency’s core responsibility of creating awareness on the importance of speaking out against any act of molestation, abuse and neglect, as well as assessing the school learning facilities, environment  and safety standards of students.

She added that the Agency will soon embark on aggressive public awareness on the danger of streets hawking by girl child and to discourage  Parents from engaging their girl child in streets hawking.
