Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has paid a courtesy call on Nigeria’s Service Chiefs at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, where he called for sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality.
The visit, according to the governor, was to congratulate the Service Chiefs on their recent appointments and to reinforce collaboration between the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Niger State Government in tackling security challenges.
Governor Bago commended the military leadership for its renewed commitment and strategic direction in strengthening the nation’s security architecture.
He emphasized the importance of consistency in the ongoing operations against insurgents and criminal gangs across the country, particularly in Niger State.
He urged the Service Chiefs to remain resolute and focused in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that “the fight against insecurity requires sustained determination and cooperation from all stakeholders.
The governor assured them of the unwavering support of the Niger State Government, while offering prayers for their success in safeguarding Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity.
Those present during the visit included the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas.
