A Non Governmental Organisation,(NGO) also known as the “Oba Na Bago’ Foundation says it has distributed over 5,000 text books to some primary schools pupils in Miina, the Niger state capital in it’s effort to encourage children of the poor and orphans to enroll in schools.
Chairman of the Association, Malam Murtala Hassan Oba, who stated this while distributing the text books to some selected pupils of IBB Basic School Minna, said this was part of an effort at complimenting efforts of the State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago- led administration in the development of education in the state
According to him the development of education should not be left in the hands of governments alone, adding that it required collective efforts by all and sundry to succeed, as education is the bedrock for any meaningful development.
Malam Murtala Hassan also explained that plans are underway by the Association to continue to distribute another sets of text books, pencils and uniforms to all the primary schools in Minna on phases, based on the little resources at their disposal.
In her remarks the IBB Basic School Assistant one, Hajiya Aishatu Yusuf thanked the Association for the gesture, stressing that no educational support given to it’s pupils could be considered as too little or too much.
She however appealed to well meaning individuals in Niger state to use their resources to support the educational development of children of the poor and orphanage to become leaders of tomorrow and reduce idleness that in some cases led to societal vices, since an idle mind is a devil workshop.
