Niger State Police command has contributed over one million naira distributed to Fifty widows of their fallen heroes who died inline of duties in the state.
Presenting the cash donations to the beneficiaries at the police headquarters in Minna, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman appreciates those involved to ensure the realization of the palliatives he described as a kind gesture to the affected families.
The CP who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Aminu Garba said the annual ritual is to show love and compassion for their late colleagues, calling on the widows to maintain their patience as such can happen to anyone.
The facilitator of the programme who is the Chief Imam of the Police Headquarters mosque, Chief Superintendent of Police CSP, Yakubu Tahir noted that the funds were donations from the command police officers to the sum of N1.3 million for this year’s Ramadan season’s palliative for the widows.
CSP Yakubu Tahir explained that three hundred thousand was used for the purchase of food items and breakfast for the beneficiaries during the Ramadan while the one million naira cash was distributed for the fifty widows who got twenty thousand naira as palliative for their sallah celebration.
According to him, “we are identifying with the families of our fallen order who lost their lives inline of duties hence the need to extend our fellowship to them that we are still with them even after their demise” .
Some beneficiaries, speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Aisha Abubakar and Aisha Aliyu appreciated the kind gesture from their late husband’s colleagues while praying for the protection of the officers and men of the force as they carry out national duty of protecting lives and properties of the citizens.
