In continuation of the Niger State Police Command’s efforts to tackle thuggery and other criminality in the State, on 4th June 2026 at about 12pm, Police operatives attached to tactical support team, while on patrol along Kwari-Begger/Maitumbi area sighted some miscreants with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses and knives, during an attempt to rob some passengers in a tricycle.
This is contained in a Crime Bulletin issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun and made available to Journalists on Friday in Minna .
The statement added that the team quickly intervened and three suspects were arrested:
Sadiq Ibrahim 25yrs, Abdulazeez Ahmed 25yrs and brahim Abdullahi 26yrs, all of Kwari-Begger, Maitumbi Minna
SP Abiodun stated that exhibits recovered include two cutlasses and one jackknife, stressing that during interrogation, suspects allegedly confessed that they only intended to collect the passengers phones and other valuables.
He however assured that they are under further investigation and effort to arrest other members of the syndicate is ongoing.
In separate development, the statement said earlier on 2nd June, 2026 at about 4pm, Police operatives attached to Central Police Station with some vigilante men conducted a raid operation around PZ area, Sabon-gari, Abdulsalam Qtrs, Tayi village and Seyeno areas.
Additionally, it stated that seven (7) suspects were arrested with two sharp long curved dangerous weapons and some quantity of suspected cannabis.
SP Abiodun said that the suspects are in custody for further investigation.
