Bilal Yau, a 20-year old man has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly raping a 6-year old girl.
The disclosure of the arrest was contained in a statement signed and issued to Journalists on Saturday by the Command PPRO, SP Nafiu Habibu.
According to him, “On the 06/01/2026 at about 1300hrs, a 45yrs-old father reported at the Divisional Police headquarters, Alkaleri, that on the 05/01/2026, his daughter (name withheld) aged 6 was lured by one Bilal Ya’u, aged 20yrs who was a neighbour, into an uncompleted building and forcefully had carnal knowledge of the minor.
The PPRO added that, “On receipt of the report, a team of Detectives led by CSP Kadiri Danjuma, DPO Alkaleri, rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Alkaleri, for medical examination and treatment. The suspect was successfully arrested.”
He further stated that,”During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the allegation against him, and further exposed that he sexually harassed the victim through both the vagina and anus.”
Additionally, it was discovered that the suspect had sometimes in 2024, during the rainy season, raped the same minor and was warned by the mother to stay away from her daughter.
The PPRO assured that investigation is still ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion.
