The Vice Chairperson of Mariga Local Government Council of Niger State, Hon. Maryam Bako Bangi, has distributed food items and other essential materials to residents as part of her Ramadan support initiative.
The distribution exercise, held in Bangi District, was aimed at delivering the dividends of democracy and fulfilling her campaign promises to the people.
According to her, Items shared included bags of rice, wrappers, sanitary pads, and cash tokens.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Maryam Bako Bangi explained that the empowerment programme was primarily targeted at women in the district to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship on families.
She assured residents that similar interventions would be extended to othe districts across the local government area.
The event drew notable personalities including the Secretary to the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Kotonkoro, the District Head of Bangi, Alhaji Muhamad Ukata,. the Village Head of Bangi, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bangi Division, as well as other community leaders and stakeholders.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the forthcoming Ramadan period , commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
