Bauchi Governor  mourns Gombe Journalists, others killed in road crash

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal road crash that claimed the lives of some Journalists and other media workers in Gombe State along the Billiri–Kumo Road.

The victims, who included five staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and two other media practitioners, were reportedly returning from the wedding ceremony of their colleague when the fatal crash occurred.

Bala Mohammed described the incident as heartbreaking and a great loss not only to the media industry but to the entire North-East region and the nation at large.

He noted that Journalists and other media workers play a vital role in strengthening democracy, promoting unity, and informing society, making their sudden deaths deeply painful.

As a Journalist by profession and a close neighbour to Gombe State, the Governor commiserated with the Government and people of Gombe State, the management and staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and RATTAWU, at both national and Gombe State levels, as well as the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

The Governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and asked Almighty Allah to grant their families the strength and fortitude to bear the great loss. He also wished the injured a speedy and full recovery, as contained in a statement signed by, Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser , Media and Publicit to the Governor.
