The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police received the families and next-of-kins (NOKs) of Police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty in the Command and presented cheques totalling fifty-four million, eight hundred and fifty-five thousand, one hundred and forty-five naira (₦54,855,145.44k) to about twenty-five (25)families/NOKs who are beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance Scheme, today on Wednesday 18th February, 2026 at the State Police Command Headquarters Dutsen-Kura, Minna.
The Commissioner of Police welcomed the families/next-of-kins to the Police Command stating that it is indeed a day of sober reflection and a reminder of their irreparable loss.
He encouraged the families as the Police Command shared in their grief and prayed for the souls of the deceased officers.
He further seeks God blessings on the token they would receive so that it would ameliorate their conditions by serving as a starting point for all the bereaved.
The CP assured that their sacrifices will never be forgotten and their memory will be forever in our hearts.
The Police Boss on behalf of the IGP condoled with all the bereaved families/NOKs urging them not to see the token as a substitute for the lives lost, but rather as a gesture of love from the Force in continuation of the Inspector General of Police’s welfare initiatives for families of Police personnel under Group Life Assurance (GLA) Scheme in honour of the officers and to also provide succour to those left behind.
In conclusion, the CP advised the families to ensure they comply with modalities required to cash in their cheques and distribute the token accordingly as intended by the deceased officers.
He added that the doors of the Command is always open and ready to assist them whenever they are in need.
He sympathised with them once more, prayed that may God blessed the tokens, the work of their hands and grants the souls of the departed rest, whilst wishing them a safe journey back to their destinations.
