Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, has congratulated two match officials of the Bauchi Football Referees Council for obtaining the prestigious 2026 FIFA badges.
The two newly certified FIFA Referees are Nuruddin Abubakar, a Centre Referee (CR), and Muhammad Mahmud Yakubu, an Assistant Referee (AR).
Their elevation now qualifies them to officiate in international football competitions under the world governing body, FIFA.
Nuruddin Abubakar and Muhammad Mahmud Yakubu were among several referees decorated with FIFA badges at a ceremony held yesterday in Abuja.
Before their emergence, only Zubairu Sani Gwabba, late Indo Maryam Shehu and Baba Karami from Bauchi State had attained FIFA badge status.
While congratulating the two officials, SWAN Bauchi State Chapter urged them to maintain the highest level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties and to continue making the state proud, as contained in a statement signed by the Secretary, Elizabeth Kah.
