Students of Bauchi State Special Education Center, have emerged winners of the National Girls in ICT Competition, 2026.
The State Ministry of Education, has therefore commended the outstanding achievement of a team of Girls who represented the State at the competition.
The students were said to have distinguished themselves among participants from across the Federation through their innovative project titled “Hands That Speak,” a technology-driven solution designed to bridge communication gaps and promote inclusion for persons with hearing impairments.
Their success at the national level reflects not only their exceptional talent, creativity, and determination but also the transformative impact of inclusive education.
The Ministry stated that the remarkable accomplishment is a proud moment for the State and a testament to the fact that every child, regardless of ability or background, can excel when provided with the right opportunities, support, and enabling environment.
Reacting to the achievement, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, expressed immense joy and congratulated the students, their teachers, mentors, and parents for making Bauchi State proud on the national stage.
The Commissioner noted that the victory validates the Ministry’s commitment to promoting inclusive education and ensuring that students with special needs are empowered to realize their full potential.
He emphasized that the achievement demonstrates the positive outcomes of government investments in education and the deliberate efforts to provide equitable learning opportunities for all learners.
Abdulkadir Ibrahim also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his unwavering commitment to the development of the education sector and his continuous support for policies and initiatives that promote quality and inclusive education across the state.
Furthermore, the Commissioner extended his gratitude to Zee Tech Foundation for its invaluable support, mentorship, and technical guidance throughout the competition process, which contributed significantly to the students’ success.
The Ministry commended the students for serving as an inspiration to young people across the country and for demonstrating that innovation, excellence, and leadership know no barriers.
According to him, “This victory belongs not only to the students but also to Bauchi State, the education community, and all stakeholders working tirelessly to advance inclusive education and digital innovation,” as contained in a statement signed by Jalaludeen Usman, Information and Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Ministry of Education.
