Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has felicitated with Muslims in Gombe State and across the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to reflect on and emulate the timeless virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a goodwill message marking the auspicious occasion, Governor Inuwa Yahaya called on the Muslim Ummah to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet, particularly his virtues of peaceful coexistence, compassion, humility, tolerance, modesty, generosity, selflessness and exemplary leadership.
The Governor urged Muslims to translate these noble values into their daily actions, interactions and relationships, stressing that the essence of the Maulud celebration should go beyond commemoration to a renewed commitment to living by the teachings and exemplary character of the Prophet.
“As we commemorate this great day, let us continue to emulate the noble Messenger of Allah in our actions, interactions and relationships for the betterment of our society,” he said.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also called on the Muslim faithful to use the occasion to offer prayers for the peace, unity, stability and prosperity of Gombe State and Nigeria, noting that collective prayers, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence remain essential to the progress of society.
He said, “The celebration of Maulud should strengthen our faith and unite us as a people, bringing us together to pray for unity, peace, progress and stability in our beloved state and nation, as we strive for growth and development.”
The Governor urged leaders and citizens alike to remain committed to their responsibilities and contribute their best towards building a peaceful, united and prosperous society.
“In this Eid-el-Maulud and always, let us take a moment to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and strive to embody the values he left behind for the betterment of our society and the world,” he added.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged the people of Gombe State to remain patriotic, hopeful and optimistic about the future, assuring them of his administration’s continued commitment to implementing programmes and policies aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of the state and improving the wellbeing of its citizens.
He particularly urged youths and other celebrants to observe the Maulud festivities peacefully, responsibly and with decorum, while remaining law-abiding and adhering to established protocols governing public celebrations.
The Governor also stressed the importance of tolerance and mutual respect among the diverse people of Gombe State, irrespective of ethnic, religious or other differences.
He called on citizens to safeguard the peace and tranquillity enjoyed in the state by avoiding acts or utterances capable of undermining the prevailing harmony, urging everyone to make peaceful coexistence a shared responsibility.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Maulud celebration, and prayed that the occasion would bring renewed faith, unity, peace and blessings to Gombe State and Nigeria, as contained in a statement signed Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
