The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election, Engr. Dr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has called on fellow aspirants, party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to unite and work towards securing victory for the party in the September 19, 2026 election.
Kallamu made the call shortly after emerging as the APC candidate at the party’s primary election held in Malam Sidi, Gombe State, where he secured 27 votes to defeat other contenders.
In his acceptance speech, Kallamu expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, APC leaders, delegates and supporters for their confidence and support throughout the primary process.
He urged his fellow aspirants to accept the outcome of the primary and join hands with him to ensure the party retains the federal constituency.
“I appeal to all our brothers who contested the primary, party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to put the outcome behind us and work together for the success of our great party,” he said.
The APC candidate also appealed to voters across Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas to support his candidacy, promising effective representation and efforts to attract meaningful development to the constituency if elected.
According to him, his emergence as the party’s flag bearer should not be seen as an individual victory, but as the beginning of a collective effort to strengthen the APC and advance the interests of the people.
The bye-election was necessitated by the death of the former member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, in June 2026.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the election, which will be conducted across 903 polling units and 31 registration areas in Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas.
