Northern Governors Salute Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar at 70; Hail His Wisdom, Leadership and Peace-Building Legacy

The Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NNGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has felicitated with the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, in a goodwill message on behalf of the 19 Northern Governors, described the Sultan as an eminent symbol of peace, unity and national cohesion, whose nearly two decades of leadership have had a profound impact on the Muslim Ummah and the Nigerian nation.

The Governor commended Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar for his exemplary leadership as the spiritual leader of Nigerian Muslims, particularly his sustained efforts to promote peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, interfaith understanding and unity across the country.

He noted that, over the years, the Sultan has consistently used his revered position and influence to foster harmony within the Muslim Ummah while reaching across religious, ethnic and social divides to promote mutual understanding and national cohesion.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the Sultan’s commitment to peace and harmony has made him an important voice in national affairs, contributing significantly to efforts aimed at strengthening good governance, stability and development.

“As the custodian of our rich heritage and traditions, His Eminence has remained steadfast in promoting unity, peace and interfaith harmony. His efforts have strengthened cooperation, religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, thereby fortifying the very fabric of our society,” the Governor said.

The NNGF Chairman particularly appreciated the Sultan’s invaluable counsel, consistent support and steadfast commitment to the peace, stability and development of Northern Nigeria, noting that His Eminence’s interventions on matters of national importance have continued to strengthen the collective resolve to build a more united, peaceful and prosperous North.

He urged the NSCIA President- General to continue to deploy his wisdom, moral authority and considerable influence in advancing the cause of peace, unity and progress, not only within the Sokoto Caliphate and the Northern region, but across the nation.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who holds the traditional title of Dan Amanan Daular Usmaniyya, prayed Almighty Allah to grant the Sultan many more years in good health, wisdom and strength to continue his invaluable service to the Muslim Ummah, the nation and humanity, as contained in a statement signed by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
