Gombe Govt Approves N260m For Relocation Of Grain Market

The Gombe State Government has approved N200 million for infrastructure associated with the relocation of the Gombe Grain Market to the Dukku Road area.

The Commissioner for Information, Moses Kyari-Bolda, disclosed this while briefing newsmen recently on recent developments and decisions of the state government.

Kyari-Bolda said an additional N60 million had been approved by the local government to support the relocation exercise, bringing the total funding committed to N260 million.

He said the compensation provision was aimed at ensuring that the government’s development intervention was carried out with due consideration for the interests and livelihoods of people affected by the relocation.

According to him, relocating the grain market to Dukku Road is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve the overall management of commercial activities in the area.

He added that the exercise would also create a more organised trading environment and provide the market with a more suitable location for its operations.

The commissioner said the relocation would equally facilitate the preservation of a historic mosque, which the government intends to retain as a state monument.

He explained that the decision formed part of the administration’s broader efforts to promote orderly urban development while improving infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for commercial activities.

Kyari-Bolda said the approvals reflected Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya’s sustained commitment to addressing critical socio-economic and infrastructure needs of the state.

He added that investments in market development, vocational development and economic support were part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen public institutions, improve service delivery, support human capital development and promote sustainable development.

The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes that would have a direct and positive impact on the lives of residents.

He said the administration would continue to ensure that public resources were deployed responsibly to achieve meaningful development across the state.
