The Bauchi Youth Discussion Cycle (BYDC) has passed a vote of no confidence on the governorship ambition of Senator Shehu Buba, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, the Chairman of the Bauchi Youth Discussion Cycle, Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, stated that the decision was reached after assessing the Senator’s performance since his election to the National Assembly in 2023.

According to Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, the Bauchi Youth Discussion Cycle considers Senator Shehu Buba to be the most underperforming Senator to have represented Bauchi South Senatorial District since 1999.

The group, citing what it described as a lack of meaningful developmental projects across the Seven local government areas of the senatorial district.

He alleged that the Senator has focused more on pursuing his governorship ambition than on fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people who elected him.

Mohammed Sani Hassan also expressed concern over what he described as the Senator’s frequent public remarks against his political opponents, urging all political actors to conduct themselves with maturity, responsibility, and respect.

He emphasized that politics should be about serving the people and promoting peaceful democratic engagement, not creating unnecessary tension.

He further stated that, in the opinion of the Bauchi Youth Discussion Cycle, Senator Shehu Buba has not demonstrated the level of performance and leadership required to govern Bauchi State.

He argued that if a public office holder is perceived to have underperformed in the office of senator, the people should carefully consider whether such a person should be entrusted with the greater responsibility of serving as governor.

The organization therefore maintained that leadership should be based on proven performance, competence, integrity, and commitment to public service, and called on the people of Bauchi State to evaluate all governorship aspirants based on their records of service and their vision for the development of the state.
