New Niger — Governor Bago’s Women Empowerment Drive: Putting Women at the Heart of Governance

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago- led administration in Niger State, is prioritizing women’s empowerment, political inclusion, and sustainable development under the New Niger Agenda.
The Key initiatives by the Government include: Over ₦2 billion committed to support an additional 169,000 women through the Nigeria for Women Project, building on the 75,575 women who benefited from the pilot phase through organized cooperative societies.
* Women elected as Vice Chairmen across all 25 LGAs, with each provided a brand-new Toyota Corolla as an official vehicle, strengthening women’s participation in governance.
* Skills training and economic empowerment programmes for thousands of women and widows across the state.
* Scholarship support for girls, helping to improve access to education and increase enrolment.
* Women appointed to key government positions, with many others serving in political and leadership roles across the state.
Through these initiatives, the incumbent administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is building a Niger State where women can lead, contribute, and prosper.
