Christian Council Stands  With CAN Rejects Introduction of  Controversial HISBAH Bill in Niger

The Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Niger State chapter has declared standing with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to reject the controversial Hisbah bill by the State House of Assembly.
 The CCN, stated this in a Press statement signee by it’s State Chairman, Rev. Daniel Tsado and made available to Journalists on Sunday in Minna
The statement added that, “We join other well meaning Nigerlites to appeal to the State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago not to allow the peaceful coexistence among Christians and Muslims for decades to be distorted by religious bigots.
According to Rev Daniel Tsado, “We support the position of CAN on the controversial Hisbah Bill proposed by the state House of Assembly”.
The statement stressed that the Hisbah Bill will distort the long peaceful coexistence among the two prominent religions and it will no doubt affects freedom of business and worsen economic backwardness presently experienced in the state.
Rev. Daniel Tsado stated further that Churches in Niger State least expected such bill from the administration of our Dear Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago who personally visited Churches signifying the show of love and Unity,saying, ‘Mr. Governor, please, do not derail’.
“As a bloc, we wonder why such a bill is coming at this time of robust relationship between the two religious bodies. We should avoid anything that will sow the seeds of discord among us”, maintained.
