The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed July 7, 2026 for the definite hearing of the suit filed by the Senator Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) .

Justice Salim Ibrahim adjourned the matter to allow all parties to file and respond to processes served on them, ordering that all pending applications and the substantive suit would be taken together on the adjourned date .

The Judge also directed all parties to file and serve their processes by July 6 and warned that the court would not entertain further delays .

The plaintiffs, comprising members of the Wabara-led BoT and the PDP, are seeking an order compelling INEC to recognise the Kabir Turaki-led interim National Working Committee (NWC) and reflect the leadership structure on the commission’s official website and records .

According to the plaintiffs, the names of members of the Turaki-led interim NWC were forwarded to INEC via letters dated May 4, 2026, but the electoral body has yet to acknowledge or update its records accordingly .

The originating summons, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1159/2026, was filed on June 4 by a team of lawyers led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN .

Counsel to the plaintiffs, Chief Gordy Uche, SAN, had earlier informed the court that the suit is time-bound, as INEC’s revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections imposes critical deadlines beginning in July .

The commission has reportedly reiterated that its deadlines for candidate submissions remain sacrosanct.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Kabir Turaki, SAN (National Chairman of the PDP faction), and Prof. Jerry Gana (3rd plaintiff) were present in court .

Justice Ibrahim had previously, on June 19, ordered accelerated hearing in the matter, noting the urgency and time-sensitive nature of the suit . The case has already witnessed legal drama.
