NASSOF organizes educational, health talk for pupils participating in SUBEB games

Over 1000 pupils from across the country participating in the ongoing 2025 national basic education school sports (BESS) games in Bauchi, have been sensitized on career choosing and healthy living

The pupils were sensitized by the National SUBEB Sports Officers Forum NASSOF, which organised an educational health talk on the sidelines of the games.

Apart from sporting events, the educational health talk session was one of the activities lined up to boost mental and physical fitness of the participating pupils.

Addressing Sports Journalists during the session, the President, National SUBEB Sports Officers Forum (NASSOF), Ipede Joseph said that, the event was to sensitize all the participating children on their future career, stressing that education and sports work together for success.

Ipede Joseph, explained that the purpose of the annual sporting event, was to discover and nurture young talents among the pupils, citing examples with the discovery of Okocha in football, Muriel Yalin in Athletics and Anthony Joshua in boxing.

Ipede Joseph who said more than 20 states are participating in this year’s event, used the forum to thank SUBEB and UBEC for initiating the games to promote unity and peace in the country.

Earlier, a Medical expert with Niger state contingents, Dr Faruq Abdulyakeen, advised the pupils to pay attention to managing stress and other forms of anxiety in order to remain fit, improve mental and physical health which are crucial to sports.

Faruq Abdulyakeen called on the children to prioritize hygiene management, especially while taking drinking water and food to ensure balance diet, cardiovascular management which deals with heart related issues.

During her presentation, Sports Desk Officer, Enugu State Universal l Basic Education Board, Mrs Odika Antonia, urged the participants to have self confidence in their respective sports events, and to be good ambassadors to their states, coaches, officials as well as cordial relationship among other pupils.

In an interview with some participating pupils, Ebuka Genevieve from Delta state and Ibrahim Muhammad from Gombe State, said, the BESS Games has given them the opportunity to make friends from other parts of the country, exposed them to lessons of life.

They promised to step down the experience gained to other pupils at home.
