The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips convened officers’ end-of-the-month conference with HODs, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs in the State for the month of January 2026. The conference took place at Police Officers’ Mess, Minna on Thursday 29th January, 2026.
During the conference, the Commissioner of Police reviewed the Police Command’s activities for the year 2025 and commended officers for their efforts in stabilizing security in the State, most especially curbing urban crime and fighting thuggery to its lowest ebb.
He urged officers not to relent and do more for public safety, as we stepped into the year 2026. He encouraged officers to improve on stakeholders/community’s engagement towards addressing challenges of crime to the barest minimum in their various areas.
He also directed DPOs to establish farmers/herders committee which must be comprised of LGAs Chairmen, DPOs, other security agencies, Intelligence agencies, District and Village Heads, community leaders and other ethnic leaders in the communities.
He added that the committee will be saddled with the responsibility of managing and resolving farmers/herders related issues in various communities across the State, both during harvest periods and farming seasons to address the challenges of farmers/herders clashes.
The CP remarked on the suspension of lay prosecutors, and stated that the Police Command and the office of the Attorney General of the State are working on the issue, noting that it will soon be resolved. He further admonished officers to engage and utilize the non-custodial services of the Correctional Service during prosecution of simple offenses to ensure decongestion of the Correctional Centers.
He informed officers that twenty-nine cadets among the newly passed-out cadets from the Police Academy were recently received in the Command, who were posted back to their various States in line with community policing principles, and directed DPOs to guide and further train them on practical policing for a better professional performance.
Finally, the CP urged officers to monitor their health and engage in sporting activities to remain healthy. He approved and announced every Wednesday evening as sporting day for officers and men to keep fit.
