The leadership of the Nigeria Library Association (NLA) on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, at the Government House, Minna, ahead of the Association’s ongoing National Conference taking place at the Siyyam International Conference Centre in Minna.
The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who received the delegation on behalf of the State government.
Speaking during the visit, the National President of the Nigeria Library Association, Dr. Umar Lawal, accompanied by the Chairman of the Association’s Niger State Chapter, Dr. Musa Baba Adamu, expressed appreciation to the Niger State government for its unwavering support and for providing an enabling environment for the successful hosting of the national conference.
Dr. Lawal stated that the visit was to formally thank the government for its commitment to the advancement of education and knowledge development through its support for the conference.
He added that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago is the Host and Special Guest of honour at the official opening ceremony of the conference scheduled to hold on Tuesday at Siyyam International Conference Centre in Minna.
Responding on behalf of the Governor, the SSG, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, welcomed the delegation to Niger State and assured them of the Government’s continued commitment to promoting education, research, innovation and professional development in line with the New Niger Agenda.
He reaffirmed the State government’s readiness to partner with professional bodies and institutions whose activities contribute to human capital development and sustainable socio-economic growth.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Hon. Obed Nuhu Nana, Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor and other senior government officials, alongside members of the Nigeria Library Association delegation.
