Shura Committee holds meeting ahead of forthcoming Ramadan

The Niger State Shura Committee has convened a meeting to discuss serious matters ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan.

The meeting was presided over by Sheikh Liman Yakatun, the Chief Imam of Bida Central Mosque and Chairman of the Shura Standing Committee

. The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure a peaceful, united, and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan throughout the state.

Following thorough discussions, the committee urged Islamic scholars and clerics to conduct Tafsir with wisdom and mutual respect, pointing out the avoidance of actions that could lead to discord.

They stressed the value of utilizing well-recognized Tafsir books for community education.
Additionally, the committee committed to engaging with relevant marketers and stakeholders to alleviate the economic challenges faced by the Ummah during Ramadan.

During the meeting, the Secretary of the Committee, Imam (Dr.) Umar Farooq Abdullahi, MPI, who is also the Director General, Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs, and Secretary General, Nigeria Imams’ Forum, appealed to the government to revive the traditional Iftar centres to enhance outreach and support at the grassroots level.

 This proposal was warmly received and unanimously endorsed by the committee as a measure to strengthen unity, compassion, and social support during the holy month of Ramadan.
