Bauchi State Governor, Sen bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has declared that his administration will not be cowardly in its approach to fight banditry and any other forms of criminalities.

The Governor made the declaration while reacting to recent breach of peace in Alkaleri LGA when armed bandits attacked some communities killing residents including security personnel and vigilante members forcing people to fled to neighboring Gombe state.

Bala Mohammed who was speaking during the Eid-El-Fitri celebration, stated that, “The Police, Army and other security agencies are helping us so much in Bauchi. We have a good relationship, but we have to cooperate. We have to expose informers among us, those bad eggs. They are the ones that are actually worse than the bandits.”

According to him,”We mean well, but we will not tolerate insecurity. And we should be mindful and conscious of the fact that the population is increasing. And this demographic development is due to the peace we have and good neighborhoodliness that we are providing. And we are a gateway to about Seven States. People choose to come here from other states, and that’s what makes us great.”

The Governor added that, “I say, not the biggest or most populous state, even though in terms of size we are not the biggest, but no untoward, but people choose to come here. We should open up. We should accommodate people, but we should not accommodate criminals. We should be able to decipher from good and bad.”

“We have signed so many Executive Orders to make sure that at least, even on the bad, we nip the criminality that is being perpetuated by people who come with dubious intentions. So rental or rent or where they stay and so on and so forth,” he added.

Bala Mohammed stressed that, “We should continue to be security conscious. Bauchi is peaceful. We should maintain that legacy. Bauchi is growing. We should continue to see it on that spirit and angle.”

He assured that, “As a government, we are embarking or we have embarked on a renewal that is showing measurable and tangible and people are appreciating us. And it is not making us arrogant. It’s making us to be more efficient and to be more conscious and humble.”

While acknowledging security and socio-economic challenges, Mohammed maintained that his government remains focused on delivering good governance through prudent management of resources and sustained development initiatives.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and supportive of security agencies, noting that stability is critical to political and economic progress.

The Governor then called on the Civil Servants and other government officials to please manage resources wisely, saying, “Our agenda or policy is using small resources to do much. We have seen the infrastructure delivery and service delivery in education and health. We want to continue. We are still going on for projects and programmes.”

He stressed that, “And of course, the labor must have integrity. That is, we must pay salaries as and when due. And I have made a promise that, Inshallah, before I exit our office, we will pay gratuity subtraction that we inherited. This is the biggest monster, but this is the monster at the moment which we must get rid of.”

He added,”So we thank God and we thank people for their love, and we appreciate. We have created Emirates, and you can see even the institutional traditional rulers institution has been opened, where the issue of self-actualization and self-determination has really brought a lot of peace and happiness.”

The Governor added that,”We are building Emirs’ palaces and District Heads palaces, and of course, we are not unmindful of the hospitals that we have built that must be catered for.”

He further stated that, “And we are employing people. We are employing. We have just started with 5,000. Whatever we promise, we try to do it, irrespective of our limitations and inadequacies. We thank the people of Bauchi State who are with us even as we are coming to the end of our administration.”

According to him,”The love is still there. We sleep with them in our hearts, and they always show us love anywhere we go, especially me and my party, the PDP. There’s nothing we can tell all the leadership of the state, the traditional rulers, the ulama, the clergymen, the civil servants, the youths, and the women. We are very, very grateful, Inshallah, Anytime, we will not disappoint them.”
