A total of 167 offenders were, on Thursday charged and prosecuted for various traffic offenses before the three designated Mobile Courts established at Rainbow Roundabout, Gombe Emir’s Palace, and Liji Roundabout, for expeditious prosecution.
The exercise was duly supervised by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, for the success of the ongoing enforcement of “Operation Velvet” across the Gombe metropolis.
The operation commenced at about 0600hrs and was aimed at enforcing compliance with traffic laws and regulations, particularly motorists and cyclists found operating in violation of road traffic rules.
The Commissioner of Police, while supervising the exercise, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring strict compliance with traffic laws, maintaining public order and enhancing the safety and security of all road users across the State.
Umar Ahmed Chuso further called on motorists, tricycle and motorcycle operators, and other road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and ensure that their vehicles possess all required documentation, as the enforcement exercise will be sustained.
Members of the public are therefore urged to cooperate with security and enforcement officers during the exercise and to report any suspicious or unlawful activities through the appropriate channels.
