The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has distributed 100 bags of rice to internally displaced persons (IDPs) who fled recent bandits’ attacks in Alkaleri Local Government Area, seeking refuge in Kashere, Gombe State.
The intervention is aimed at cushioning the immediate impact of displacement and providing relief to affected families during this challenging period.
Presenting the food items to the displaced persons, the Chief Executive Officer of BWSO, Arch. Muktar Jarmajo, said Bala Wunti was deeply moved by reports of the attacks in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
“Dr Wunti asked us to come and make this presentation because he understands the difficult situation under which this displacement has put you, and prayed God to bring an end to this plight”, Jarmajo said.
Receiving the relief materials on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Umar Badikoo, Baraden Kashere, disclosed that there are more than 10,000 IDPs currently taking refuge in Kashere, with over 6,000 sheltered at the Kashere Central Primary School camp.

He expressed appreciation to BWSO for the timely intervention during the Holy Month of Ramadan and “prayed God to reward Bala Wunti abundantly for being his brother’s keeper.”
Some of the female IDPs who spoke on behalf of the camp members also offered prayers for BWSO, asking God to bless the organisation for its compassion and generosity toward those affected by the crisis.
