Bauchi State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expressed firm support for the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the financial activities of Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Yakubu Adamu, over alleged ₦4.6 billion money laundering.

In a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Sadiq Ayuba Matawalle, on 30 December 2025, the party underscored the need for transparency and accountability in public administration, describing corruption as a serious threat to good governance, economic growth, and public trust in Bauchi State.

The NNPP called on relevant institutions to act with professionalism and independence, noting that strong institutions are critical to safeguarding democracy and protecting public resources.

The party further urged Yakubu Adamu to step aside to allow for a credible and unhindered investigation, emphasizing that public office must not be used to shield individuals from accountability or undermine due process.

Additionally, the NNPP called on the EFCC to extend its investigation to cover the commissioner’s entire tenure and to closely monitor other government officials.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to clean governance, responsible leadership, and policies that place the interests of the people of Bauchi State above personal or political considerations.
