Niger Works Commissioner leads statewide inspection of ongoing roads projects

The Niger State Ministry of Works has embarked on an extensive inspection tour of ongoing road and infrastructure projects across the state, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Kabiru Abbas.
 The tour was aimed at assessing the level of progress, quality of work, and compliance with approved specifications on key projects being executed by the Ministry.
This was contained in a Press statement issued by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Ismaila Saba Favu and made available to Journalists on Saturday in Minna.
The statement added that the inspection exercise had the Commissioner accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, QS Hassan Baba Estu, members of the Ministry’s management team, senior engineers, and other technical officers.
Furthermore,Ismaila Favu stated further that the tour commenced from the Suleja axis, where the team moved from site to site to receive first-hand briefings from contractors and supervising engineers.
The statement further explained that, “At each project location, contractors provided detailed explanations on the scope of work, the current stage of completion, and challenges affecting smooth execution, stressing that the technical team also highlighted engineering details and site-specific issues requiring attention to ensure timely delivery.
It was further disclosed that, “During the tour, Hon. Kabiru Abbas engaged directly with project handlers, raising critical questions on adherence to contractual agreements, project timelines, and quality control measures.
He emphasized the Ministry’s zero tolerance for substandard work and unnecessary delays, stressing that all projects must meet required engineering standards and deliver real value to the people of Niger State.
The Commissioner reiterated that the inspection was part of the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective supervision of public infrastructure projects, noting
 that regular monitoring would help identify emerging issues early and allow for timely corrective actions where necessary.
Consequently, members of the management team took detailed notes of key observations made at the various project sites, including technical concerns, environmental considerations, and logistical challenges affecting project delivery.
According to the Commissioner, these observations will guide policy decisions and follow-up actions by the Ministry, emphasizing that he atmosphere of the tour reflected a hands-on leadership approach, with on-the-spot discussions held on project execution strategies, decisions taken at site level, and expectations for subsequent phases of work.
 Additionally, Contractors were reminded of the need to maintain constant communication with the Ministry and strictly adhere to approved work plans.
Meanwhile, Hon. Kabiru Abbas assured residents of Niger State that the Ministry remains fully committed to delivering durable, sustainable, and high-quality road infrastructure in line with the development agenda of the state government.
He added that similar inspection tours would continue to ensure that all ongoing and future projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
