President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that no nation can thrive without deliberate investment in the minds of its youth and that no Nigerian should be denied access to quality education due to financial limitations.
President Tinubu represented by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, stated this in his remarks / disclosure during the 34th Convocation ceremony and 43rd Founders Day of Federal University of Technology Minna.
The Visitor expressed said he is delighted at the Institution, noting that over the past 43(forty-three years), the university has distinguished itself as a Centre of Excellence in Science, Engineering innovation, and Applied research.
According to him, in pursuit of this commitment, the present administration has expanded access to education through targeted infrastructure investments and the implementation of the student loan scheme.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Farouk Adamu Kuta, said the ceremony stands as a powerful affirmation of the university community, defined by resilience, creativity, and unwavering dedication to the advancement of knowledge and service to humanity.
He said that in celebrating academic excellence, the past year recorded exceptional progress, as the university was ranked the seventh best university in Nigeria and emerged as the highest ranked specialized university.
Professor Kuta added that the strategic expansion of the institution is a decisive step toward fulfilling its mandate as a technology driven university committed to solving societal challenges, particularly in the training of healthcare professionals and medical technologists in Nigeria.
He stated further that the institution remains committed to the merit and welfare of both academic and non-academic staff, where according to him, over146 (one hundred and forty-six senior non-teaching staff and one hundred and 10 (ten) junior staff were promoted, while the appointments of 22(twenty-two) staff were confirmed, noting that, in creating an enabling environment, the school clinic and sports complex were renovated.
Professor Kuta charged the graduates, saying, the day marks their transition from learners to alumni and solution providers, as they graduate from a university ranked among the top ten best in Nigeria and sixty-eighth in Africa.
The FUT Minna Pro- Chancellor and chairman governing council, Dr Mohammed K. Santuraki applauded President Bola Tinubu on his reforms and achievements in enhancing steady progress however aligned with his administration to ensure national growth.
He also appreciates governor Bago Umar for donating N100 million towards the construction of female hostel for medical students as well as the visionary leadership of the Vice Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta’s prudent management of resources, while urging the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the University in their carriers.
Speaking, the overall best graduating student from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Koter Richman Oluwadamilola, said the moment is a testament to perseverance, faith, and unity that carried them through a long and demanding journey.
The Federal University of Technology, Minna graduated five thousand two hundred and ninety-seven students for the twenty-twenty-four– twenty -twenty-five academic session.
