The Police In Niger State has arrested Nine suspects over allegations of criminal Conspiracy, Armed robbery, culpable Homicide and receiving stolen property.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command,SP Wasiu Abiodun stated this in a statement issued and made available to Journalists on Thursday in Minna
According to him, In continuation of the the Niger State Police Command efforts to reduce crime and criminality to a barest minimum, on 10th June 2026 at about 3.40am, a distress call was received from Rafin-Chinaka area of Maje, and Police patrol team attached to Maje Div moved to the scene and discovered that a victim was robbed of a Jincheng motorcycle.
He stated further that having robbed the victim of the motorcycle, the suspects were sighted trying to escape through Zuba axis, they were pursued by the Police team and one of them named Bitrus James was arrested with the motorcycle.
In the course of investigation, the suspect allegedly mentioned one Aminu and two others as members of a syndicate who specialised in robbing victims of motorcycles and other valuables within Suleja, Kwamba and its environs, stressing that based on the suspect’s confession, eight other suspects were arrested in connection with the crime.
The suspects according to him includes: Aminu Ibrahim 25yrs of Jabi, Abuja, Gali Ibrahim Abubakar of Kaduna road, Ibrahim Idris a.k.a Nepa of Kad road, Samaila Nasiru 20yrs of Jabi, Abuja, Mohammed Sani 41yrs of Kaduna road, Dorcas Thomas 32yrs of Durumi,Rejoice Samaila 28yrs of Durumi
and Musa Lawal 30yrs of Sabon-Wuse
The PPRO, noted that preliminary investigation revealed that Bitrus James, Aminu Ibrahim, Gali Abubakar, Ibrahim Idris and two others at large are members of armed robbery syndicate terrorising Suleja
and its environs.
SP Abiodun stated further that Bitrus and Aminu we’re said to have confessed to be among the hoodlums who attacked one Alhaji Monsa on 31st May 2026 at about 3am behind Niger Motel, stabbed him to death with a jackknife and took his motorcycle with a bag away.
He said,”Musa Lawal was arrested as a major receiver of stolen motorcycles who confessed to have also received numerous stolen motorcycles from Bitrus, Aminu and Ibrahim Idris,adding that any motorcycle given to him, he usually sends it to Sani Mohamed who act as transporter to deliver the motorcycle to buyers in Katsina, Kaduna and other locations,while Musa was said to have equally offered a bribe to the DPO to terminate the case.
The PPRO further revealed that “Samaila Nasiru managed a boutique for Aminu in Jabi where the guns and other dangerous weapons were kept,just as he explained that Rejoice was found harbouring Bitrus James in her house in Durumi, while Dorcas provided her personal details for Bitrus to open an account for proceeds of crime with records of movement of large amounts of money”.
Meanwhile, exhibits recovered include two fabricated revolver guns, one axe, jackknife, one live cartridge, eight empty cartridges, a laptop, a bag of the deceased victim, different motorcycle parts, handsets, ATM cards.
SP Abiodun has assured that all suspects were transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
