Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-East to make effective use of its growing numerical advantage to secure victory in the 2027 elections.

Buni, who also serves as the APC North-East Coordinator, made this appeal on Wednesday during the party’s zonal congress held in Gombe.

He emphasiseded the need for the party to capitalize on its expanding support base both within the region and nationwide to achieve a decisive win in 2027.

The governor highlighted the party’s unity, noting that the peaceful conduct of its ward, local government, and state congresses reflects strong internal cohesion. He described the use of consensus in selecting party officials as a mark of political maturity.

Buni urged members to maintain this unity by putting aside their differences and focusing on strengthening grassroots mobilisation efforts across the region.

He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, acknowledging the administration’s efforts in navigating the country through difficult times.

He commended security agencies, especially the military, for their contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the North-East.

Reinforcing the importance of due process, Buni advised aggrieved party members to address their grievances through established internal channels, stressing that internal democracy is crucial for the party’s development.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the APC North-East Zonal Congress, Simon Nguam, stated that the congress was conducted through consensus, leading to the emergence of eight executives.

These include Shuaibu Idris as Zonal Vice Chairman, Baba Ali as Secretary, Nite Amangal as Publicity Secretary, and Lumbi Abubakar as Women Leader, among others.

Former Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, moved the motion for adopting the consensus arrangement, which was seconded by Usman Kumo, a member representing Akko Federal Constituency and House Whip.

Also Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, moved the motion to adopt the consensus candidates, which was seconded by Ndus Dantata, APC Chairman in Gombe.
