Niger State Chapter of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has Inaugurated its State Executive Council to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years with Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Manko, emerging as the chairman.
The election was conducted by affirmations with all the positions were unopposed through concensus which was held in Minna, Niger state capital.
Conducting the election, the National President of AFAN, Mohammed Magaji Gettado praised the unity and peaceful conduct of the Niger state chapter of All Farmers Association of Nigeria for the seamless exercise.
Represented by the National Organizing Secretary, Salisu Muktar who urged the new leadership to carry along everybody and operate an open door policy for the sustainable harmony and progress of the association in the state.
He said that the government is planing to massively support farmers this year in Nigeria, adding that the registration of farmers is ongoing targeting 30 million membership across the country, noting that federal government is set to distribute free inputs to 3.040 million farmers by next week in the country.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Manko assured to bring his worth of experience to bear in the association, while he promised to be fair and just to all with committed in discharging his duties and to ensure peace, unity, transparency and innovation in Niger State affairs of AFAN.
Manko revealed during an interview after their swearing in that, “we have 2.7 million registered farmers aside 40 commodity farmers associations in Niger state, he thereby reassured to ensure agricultural friendly policies, encourage peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders, partner with the 25 local government areas and expand inputs for farmers in the state.
Other executives who received their certificate of return and oath of office includes: Salihu Idris Shanu Deputy Chairman, Umar Dan-Asebe Treasurer, Baba Alhaji Tarko Organizing Secretary, Salihu Jibrin Assistant Secretary, Sani Aliyu Financial Secretary, Shehu Kamai PRO, Salle Abdullahi woman leader, Nasiru Attahiru Auditor, Usman Kwatu Ex-Officio, and Mohammed Mohammed as the Youth leader among others.
In attendance were the director in Federal Ministry for Agriculture,Dr Suleiman Ladan, permanent secretary Niger state ministry for Agriculture Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Kudu, Alhaji Hassan Shiroro, representatives of PLWD, Women in farming, Youth farmers, various farmers associations in the state witnessed the election and inauguration of the new executives.”
