Bauchi State Police Command has mounted a manhunt for Eight suspected political thugs who allegedly stabbed a middle aged man, Ustaz Ridwan (Rilwanu) Dauda, a resident of Karofin-Madaki, around the JEDCO transformer, Bauchi metropolis, to death.
Reports from the area have it that the unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday following a heated argument with the thugs over posting of the poster of a politician in the building.
A resident of the area told our Correspondent that, late Ridwan, had told the man not to paste the poster on the wall of their building but the man refused and insisted to paste the poster.
It was further gathered that the political thug called his colleague who came to the scene and went ahead to paste the poster, a development that resulted in heated arguments between them.
The resident said that it was in the situation that one of the thugs brought out a dagger and stabbed late Ridwan on the chest and ran away.
According to him, residents of the area rushed out, picked the late Ridwan and rushed him to the Hospital but on the way, he died.
Another resident who spoke to our Correspondent described Ustaz Rilwanu as a nice and gentleman, an Islamiyya teacher, with a decent family background who was hardworking looking for how to take care of his family.
He added that he normally go about doing menial jobs including guarding for people and breaking firewood aside from teaching pupils in the Islamiyya.
He called on the security agencies to fish out the assailants and bring them to justice as a way of ensuring that the family got justice at all cost.
Another resident, Bukhari Mu’azu Abubakar, called on the relevant security agencies to conduct a deep investigation to find out the remote and immediate causes of the unfortunate incident.
In a post on his Facebook account, Bukhari Mu’azu Abubakar condoled the family over the unfortunate death of Ridwan Dauda just as he called on Elders and community leaders of the area to take measures to avert future occurrence.
Bukhari Mu’azu Abubakar also advised that politicians and their supporters should be stopped from painting people’s properties with their logos, posters and other campaign materials.
He lamented that the late Malam Rilwanu Dauda, left behind, a wife with five children calling for justice for the family as well as urgent steps to assist the family on how to keep life going.
Though there was no official confirmation of the incident from the Police Command, an impeccable source disclosed that the Police is on the trail of the suspects as they have been identified and will be apprehended in no time.
The source assured that the DPO of the Township Division of the Police Command and his personnel are ready closing-on, on them.
He said that, the DPO is a dependable officer who is always on alert in combating crimes and criminality in the Division and this case will not be an exception.
As of the time of filling the report, State Police Command has not confirmed the incident but the PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, in response to the message sent to his WhatsApp number assured that his office will issue a statement on the development at the appropriate time.
