Gombe State Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), has deployed a total of 613 Regular and Special Marshals, 14 Operational Vehicles, and 1 tow truck for the Eid-El Adha celebration.
The deployment, approved by the Sector Commander, CC Samson Kaura, was to ensure a crash free celebration as well as enhance free flow of traffic during the festive period,as contained in a statement signed by the Command Public Education Officer, SRC Janet Kassa, made available to Journalists in Gombe.
She also stated that the special patrol which has commenced on the 25 of May will last through 31 of May, 2026 while the deployed personnel are for traffic control, rescue services, clearing of road obstructions and a reminder to the public of the need to drive cautiously so as to avoid the menace of road traffic crashes on the roads.
According to the statement, “The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is the lead agency for traffic management and administration in Nigeria. The Corps primary role is to minimize traffic crashes on the road and educate road users generally.”
She added, “As the Muslim Faithful’s Nationwide Observe and Celebrate Eid-El Kabir Sallah, it is the responsibility of the corps to ensure adequate and free flow of traffic nationwide.”
“The State will witness an increased mass movement as a result of the 2026 Eid-El Kabir Sallah which is just around the corner. This celebration will also heightened the Command’s operational activities. It is in the light of the anticipated movements that the Command made the deployment,” Janet Kassa added.
The Command has deployed operatives and logistics to checkmate traffic activities and other associated traffic gridlocks.
She stressed that, “These infractions include but not limited to speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, mix-loading, use of phone while driving, fake number plates and route violations. These violations often lead to serious and fatal road traffic crashes.”
The Sector Commander called on the people of Gombe State to abide by the rules guiding the use of the road, to avoid overloading, use of phone while driving, speed while advising passengers and other road users to be responsibility for their safety and stop distracted driving.
Commander Samson Kaura wished all citizens of Gombe a crash free Eid-el Kabir celebration.
