Tragedy struck in Niger State, as no fewer than 15 persons were reportedly burnt to death in a road traffic crash along Enagi–Costain Duma sharp corner road in Mokwa Local Government Area of the State.
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 8th August, 2026 when a vehicle was engulfed by fire at the sharp corner where the victims were burnt to death inside the vehicle.
An eyewitness, Ahmed Ndagana hinted that the exact cause of the flame was still sketchy and full details of those involved were still being verified by relevant authorities.
According to him, all 15 bodies have since been given mass burial in accordance with the Islamic rites, while urging road users to exercise caution, especially around sharp corners and during this raining season to prevent avoidable accidents.
The authorities concerned were yet to issue official statements on the immediate or remote cause of the accident as at the time of filing this report on Sunday.
