The Niger State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, has received his Kwara State counterpart, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, at the State Ministry of Health Headquarters in Minna, in a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening inter-state collaboration, knowledge sharing and improved healthcare delivery.
Welcoming the Kwara State Commissioner, Dr. Bagana expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as an opportunity for both states to share experiences, exchange knowledge and identify innovative approaches to improving healthcare services.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Health Jibrin Usman Kodo and made available to Journalists on Tuesday in Minna
The statement added that, Dr. Bagana thereafter presented the Ministry’s 2026 Activity Tracker, a comprehensive framework outlining the activities and programmes scheduled for implementation throughout the year.
He explained that the tracker enables the Ministry to systematically monitor and follow up on its programmes from the beginning to the end of the year.
According to him, the initiative is aligned with the New Niger Health Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, aimed at repositioning the state’s health sector, strengthening service delivery and advancing Universal Health Coverage.
The Commissioner thanked his Kwara State counterpart for the visit and reaffirmed Niger State’s commitment to sustained inter-state collaboration and knowledge exchange towards achieving better health outcomes.
In her remarks, the Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, commended Dr. Bagana and his team for what she described as a coordinated and structured approach to managing the health sector.
She particularly applauded the regular coordination meetings involving heads of agencies and directors of the Ministry, noting that the leadership team meets three times weekly to deliberate on issues affecting the effective administration and delivery of healthcare services in the state.
Dr. El-Imam expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Niger State Commissioner in the health sector, particularly his ability to bring various stakeholders together towards achieving common goals.
She urged the heads of agencies and directors to continue providing the Commissioner with the necessary cooperation and support, while also encouraging them to sustain the standards and systems established under his leadership beyond his tenure.
Moreover, the high-level meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, heads of agencies and directors of the Niger State Ministry of Health.
A major highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of the August Health Fact Sheet, a monthly publication of the Niger State Ministry of Health, by Commissioner Bagana.
The publication was subsequently presented to the Kwara State Commissioner for Health as part of the knowledge-sharing initiative.
Meanwhile, the meeting further underscored the importance of collaboration among states in strengthening health systems, sharing best practices and improving healthcare outcomes for citizens.
