Vulnerable children across the state have started receiving support to the tune of N200m from the Bauchi State Orphan and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA), in partnership with the Muslim World League (MWL).
The disclosure was made by Chairperson of BASOVCA, Hajiya Yelwa Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, during the official flag-off of the allowance disbursement to beneficiaries in Bauchi, an event attended by government officials, development partners and community leaders.
She reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with donor organisations to improve the welfare of vulnerable children, noting that strategic collaborations remain key to expanding social protection services in the state.
According to her, BASOVCA is dedicated to putting smiles on the faces of orphans and vulnerable children through sustained cooperation with both local and international partners.
She added that the intervention by the Muslim World League is complementing the efforts of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
The Chairperson further highlighted ongoing state initiatives targeting vulnerable groups, including educational support, healthcare services and other social welfare programmes.
She described the MWL intervention as timely and impactful amid prevailing economic challenges and expressed appreciation for the organisation’s humanitarian support and appealed for increased collaboration to expand assistance in the coming years.
In his remarks, the Acting Director of the MWL Nigeria Office, Malam Al’amin Ahmad, said the organisation remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities nationwide.
He explained that the Bauchi intervention forms part of the league’s broader mission to provide relief and empower disadvantaged groups.
Al’Amin Ahmad disclosed that beneficiaries in Bauchi State would receive over ₦200 million this year to ease their burdens and improve their living conditions, urging recipients to utilise the funds judiciously.
Also speaking, Sheikh Dr. Adam Ibrahim Disina commended the Muslim World League for what he described as a generous and timely intervention, noting that the support would provide significant relief to families facing economic hardship.
Some beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed gratitude to BASOVCA and the Muslim World League, stating that the assistance would help them meet their basic needs and improve their overall wellbeing, as contained in a statement by Prince Bawa.
