Christian community in Bauchi State has been urged to maximise the Lenten season for spiritual renewal and prayer for continuation of peace and peaceful atmosphere in the State.
The call was made by the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State on Christian Religious Affairs, Pst.(Dr). Zakka L. Magaji, in a statement on the commencement of the 40 days Lenten period for Christians
The Governor’s Aide also called on the Christians to set aside their denominational differences but take full advantage of the holy season to deepen their spiritual lives through prayer, repentance, and renewed commitment to God Almighty.
He emphasized that the 40-day period of rigorous spiritual exercise should serve as a time of spiritual cleansing, sober reflection, and deeper exposition to the truth of the Gospel.
He encouraged believers to reconnect with God in sincerity and humility, allowing the season to transform their hearts and strengthen their faith.
He particularly admonished Christians of the Catholic denomination, in line with the traditions of the Catholic Church, to pray fervently for the continued progress, peace, and stability of Bauchi State and the nation at large.
According to him, the solemn observance of Lent offers a unique opportunity for collective intercession for good governance, unity, and sustained development.
Luka Zakka further called for earnest prayers for the administration of Sen.Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed urging Christians to seek divine wisdom, guidance, and strength for the Governor and his team.
He stressed the importance of sustaining a sense of equity, justice, and fairness in governance for the benefit of all citizens.
While reaffirming Government’s confidence in the leadership of the Bauchi Catholic Diocese under Bishop Hillary N. Dachelem, Luka Zakka commended the Diocese for its spiritual guidance and contributions to moral and social development in the state.
He reiterated the Bauchi State Government’s open-door policy toward all Christian denominations, assuring every sect of inclusiveness, mutual respect, and continued collaboration.
The Clergyman concluded by praying that the Lenten season would usher in renewed hope, stronger faith, and lasting peace for Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole, as contained in a statement by Rice Elijah David,
