Gombe ACReSAL begins 5-day stakeholders training on Grievance Redress Mechanism

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has organized a five-day training for key stakeholders in Gombe State on the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM), aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and community participation in project implementation.

Speaking during the training, in Bauchi the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Jauro, expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their unwavering support, particularly during the implementation of the Federal College of Education Gombe catchment gully erosion intervention.

Dr. Jauro specifically thanked traditional rulers and community leaders for their cooperation and commitment, noting that their involvement has contributed significantly to the project’s successes over the past three years.

He also acknowledged members of the State Steering Committee and the Technical Committee, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration and increased participation to enhance project delivery. According to him, ACReSAL has enjoyed a cordial working relationship with stakeholders since inception.

The Project Coordinator further commended officials of the State Ministry of Justice for providing essential legal guidance through the Ministry of Environment, noting that their interventions have been instrumental in resolving key issues encountered during implementation.

In his remarks, the Senior District Head of Gombe,  Alhaji Bappa Muhammad represented by Alhaji mohamned Bappa, District Head of Ajiya, commended ACReSAL under the leadership of Dr. Sani Jauro and the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya for their commitment to addressing environmental degradation in the state.

He lauded the creation of an enabling environment that has allowed the project to thrive and deliver impactful interventions.

Declaring the workshop open, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Forest Resources, Alhaji Abubakar Bello, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting ACReSAL’s objectives.

He stated that the project would continue to implement sustainable and impactful environmental interventions aimed at restoring degraded landscapes and promoting climate resilience across Gombe State.

The five-day training is expected to equip participants with the knowledge and tools required to effectively manage grievances, ensuring that community concerns are addressed promptly and fairly in line with global best practices.
