A prominent loyalist of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Khamis Musa Darazo, has praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her unwavering commitment to empowering Nigerian women, describing her initiatives as a catalyst for economic growth, family stability, and national development.
Khamis Musa Darazo made the assertion while chatting with Journalists in Bauchi on Friday.
He said the success of many Nigerian women demonstrates that genuine empowerment does not always begin with large capital but with determination, discipline, and access to opportunity.
Speaking on the transformative power of grassroots entrepreneurship, he cited the inspiring story of Asabe, a businesswoman based in Abuja, whose success he said exemplifies the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerian women.
According to him, “I know a hardworking woman named Asabe in Abuja who built houses from the profits she earned selling akara and akamu. Her story is a powerful reminder that no legitimate business is too small to create wealth. With dedication, prudent management, and consistency, ordinary businesses can produce extraordinary results.”
Khamis Musa Darazo said that Asabe’s remarkable journey reflects the immense potential of millions of Nigerian women who work tirelessly every day through small-scale enterprises to support their families and contribute to the nation’s economy.
He further said this is why Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s focus on women empowerment deserves the support of all Nigerians, noting that empowering women creates stronger homes, more resilient communities, and a more prosperous nation.
“The Nigerian woman is one of our greatest assets. When she is empowered, poverty declines, children receive better care and education, local businesses expand, and the economy grows. This is why the First Lady’s commitment to women deserves commendation and sustained support,” he stated.
Khamis Musa Darazo also noted that women across Nigeria continue to excel in agriculture, food processing, trading, tailoring, and other small and medium-scale enterprises despite numerous economic challenges.
He called on governments at all levels, financial institutions, corporate organisations, and development partners to complement Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s efforts by providing affordable financing, vocational training, business mentorship, and improved market access for women entrepreneurs.
He further urged young Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship with dignity, stressing that honest labour remains one of the surest paths to sustainable prosperity.
He stressed that, “There is honour in every legitimate business. The story of Asabe proves that success is not determined by where you start but by your determination, discipline, and vision. We must celebrate and support hardworking Nigerians who are quietly transforming lives and building wealth through enterprise.”
